| Summary | 0001240: [SWAN] Speaker output volume table for each volume step | ||||
| Description | Dear Mr. Sean Chiang, We already asked Audio output table for each volume step for Eagle before. https://mantis.cnsbg.foxconn.com/vaas/view.php?id=1179 SKB makes some rule for STB audio output level from BTF of Eagle. And Foxconn tested it and feedback before. But it is output for HDMI output. There are some differences between SWAN and Eagle. Eagle doesn’t have Speakers, but SWAN has it. So we should provide speaker output measurement of each volume step. And speaker output should have linearity with steps. But SKB cannot make rule of audio output for each volume step. We should provide it. I have question about below items. 1. Do you have any idea how much louder in sound bar in Maximum volume(32) and minimum volume(1) ? 2. Do you have any idea how you can measure speaker output for each volume step ? 3. Do you have any equipment to measure speaker output for each volume step ? If you have any question about it, please let us know. | ||||

Hi Mr.Yoon, Please see my comment as below, Thanks! 1. Based on the current speaker configuration, I think the loudest sound of the sound bar should depends on the rate power of the speakers. We can use 0 dBFS, 1KHz audio file to measure the max. rate power, In max,. rate power condition, it should be the maximum volume. For the minimum volume, according to our QA team, it indicates that 30dB is the normal requirement, that is user can not hear the sound at a distance of 1M from the speaker. 2. We have acoustic chamber and the equipment to measure the speaker output. Normally, we place the DUT at distance of 1meter from the receiver (microphone) to measure the sound. About the volume step, I think the test concept should be the same as Eagle but only different on test method & equipment. The SKB/ALT should decide how many steps and the dB in a step for the speaker output volume. 3. We have following equipments to measure the speaker output volume. ==> Aidio Precision APx585、B&K 4191 microphone Thanks, Regardes, Sean |

Hi, Sean Please refer to below comment. 1. 1KHz - Max: 0dBFS - Min: 0.001mW - Step: 32step 2. 200Hz(only measure for reference): 32step Best regards Lonnie Kim |

Hi, Sean Please refer to mantis 0001020. ( https://mantis.cnsbg.foxconn.com/vaas/view.php?id=1020 ) Best regards Lonnie Kim |

Hi Lonnie, Noted. It looks like there are some discussion between Wooshin and our SW team about the speaker volume measurement. I will discuss with Jacky based on the comment you provided, and let you know if there are any questions. Thanks, Regards, Sean |
Dear Sean, I wonder that did you discuss with jacky. Please share any update. LKFS adjustment finished by jerry, you have to adjust each step linear Thanks, |
Hi Wooshin Kang, Th LKFS adjustment was finished but the speaker output volume (power) will exceed the spec. in the condition of the max volume step 32. Since the HDMI output and speaker output use the same volume table. Even the HDMI volume is no problem, but there still has some problem in speaker output path. Hi Jerry, Can you please explain the current status in SW side for the speaker output volume issue and the GAIN adjustment? Thanks, |
@ Sean Chiang, Could you provide your test result ? To make SWAN satisfactory speaker spec, we should know your test result. |
Hi Wooshin Kang / Lonnie , We are now dealing with this issue, and our modification will be as follows: 1. Protect the 32-tone sound output to avoid exceeding Speaker's specifications. 2. The adjustment method of 32 scale will be the same as HDMI. |
Hi Jerry, Can you provide the test results of HDMI and speaker output volume tuning by our SQA? In addition, please update your current tuning status and test results. Thanks, |
Hi Sean / Wooshin Kang / Lonnie, For HDMI LKFS test: You can see the following link: https://mantis.cnsbg.foxconn.com/vaas/view.php?id=1120 Here is the HDMI test report, when our QA staff completes all the test results (1 to 32 levels), I will update it here. For Speaker test: We limit the power consumption of the full range speaker by SW , and make the power consumption of the full range speaker less than 8W, Jerry |
Hi Lonnie, We have test speaker volume with 32 steps. Please refer the report. BTW, does the Dreamus test the speaker performance? Could provide us the report? Thank you. |
Hi Lonnie, Update the volume table of all stream on APP-DEBUG.apk. Only music stream has higher THD, but others are all under 1%. Please refer the table as reference. BTW: This table is decrease 13.5dB compare from LKFS table to avoid speaker too lauder. But we cannot define the maximum SPL at level 32, could you please give a define for us? We still can fine tune to increase or decrease SPL. Thank you. |
Hi Lonnie, Update the volume table measurement with rework amp board for WCLK/BCLK pins. Thank you. |
Hi Lonnie, Update the volume table measurement for speaker SPL for 32 levels. We also measure the speaker power from real speaker, not from loader. So please refer the test results. Thank you. |
@Fu-chiang Young, Mr. Sean Chiang, I asked you to test speaker output with each volume level. But I asked Mr. Sean Chiang to use Test stream that use for LKFS test. I think you use 0 dBFS Test stream for Volume level test. Please do test with LKFS test stream. |
Hi Mr.Yoon, Can you confirm the LKFS test stream are SBS_AAC & SBS_AC3? Just checked with River that you asked our SW team use these two stream to verify the max volume(32 level) of LKFS only. May I know the purpose of using LKFS stream to test each volume level of the speaker output? Thanks, Regards, Sean |
Mr. Sean Chiang and Mr. Fu-chiang Young, I checked with our engineers. You already tested Output volume level per each volume. You used for SBS_정파.mpg for AC3, SBS_CM5000_AAC.ts for AAC. SBS_정파.mpg : http://altserver01.iptime.org/share/2021-05-19_audio_level/SBS_%ec%a0%95%ed%8c%8c.mpg SBS_CM5000_AAC.ts : http://altserver01.iptime.org/share/2021-05-19_audio_level/SBS_CM5000_AAC.ts It tested by Jerry Lin before. So you already have these test stream. You measured it on HDMI side, but I would like know it on Speaker side. Could you check and inform us ? |
Hi Yoon, Ok, we will arrange the test and follow up as the HDMI test, but the sound plays from speakers. Thank you. |
Hi Yoon, Update the test results for "SBS_정파.mpg for AC3, SBS_CM5000_AAC.ts for AAC." streams. The unit of both HDMI output (dBFS) and speaker output (dBSPL) are different, so we compare the trend line. They seem similar. Please refer the attached file. Thank you. |
Hi Mr. Fu-chiang Young I think you measured Volume with Microphone. So how far is the microphone from the sound bar? Did you check the THD ? Thank you |
Hi Yoon, The distance between DUT and reference Microphone is 1 meter. About THD issue: The stream frequency is 400Hz, low frequency effects DUT assembly. When testing, we ignore the THD value due to we assembly/disassembly many times. Thank you. |
